Change in my "hosts" file.
I bought some software from a buddy and probably should have know better but the instructions say to :
Before you begin, copy "host" file from CD to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc to over write origional (Important)
For some reason I feel like I have opend a bag of problems. On occosaion, I see an outlook window pop up that I did not do, but my hand is moving and I figure it was me.
I wonder if I have opened my computer up to a bad thing. He said he ordered the software on line but I'm betting it is a knock off.
Am I totally stupid of just a little?

Hi,
You can open the "host" file by using a text editor program like notepad and see what it contains?
"The hosts file is a computer file used in an operating system to map hostnames to IP addresses. The hosts file is a plain-text file and is traditionally named
hosts."
Here is a default "hosts" file content example. Compare with yours and see what can cause the problems...
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
